TFS amazed me again
The Team Foundation Server continues to amaze me. This weekend we did a terrible mistake here. We were trying to extend the Sharepoint Services Website in IIS with the new Sharepoint Server Extensions, but instead of extending the Sharepoint web site, we extended the TFS Web Services web site.
After that I thought that we were doomed for all eternity since the TFS repair / uninstall didn´t work with an error message (that´s not cool and should be changed in the next release of TFS). Well we tried to remain calm and then proceeded to the logical next step: manual uninstall of TFS. We uninstalled via control panel, then removed every single registry entry, folder or web site that TFS had in the machine (The Application Tier).
After that we just installed the application tier again and upgraded it to SR1. And everything is working just fine.
This dual-server install never appealed much to me, until now. The dual-server install really saved me since the Data Tier was intact and it really is the heart and soul of TFS.
Well after all the despair, no damage was done. Thanks to Team Foundation Server.
