The Decision Points of Visual Studio Team System

Decision Points: the perfect term to describe a lot of what organizations do in Team System implementation planning. I was speaking with a potential client today about their plans on a move into the Visual Studio Team System space. It was the standard

Supporter of Microsoft with Affirmation and Criticism

I'm a supporter of Microsoft in many ways. I support a number of Microsoft activities with my affirmation when I think things are a job well done and with my criticism when I think it is well deserved. Not that my affirmation or criticism carries any

Not at all technically related

I found this article entitled "Canadians Don't Have Entitlement to Legal Services, Court Says " on bloomberg.com to be especially interesting. Don't ask me why. It's just filled with oxymorons, it seems. I think I'll look for a moire full article. Back

Dubblebock TFS - if you like Tortoise

Make sure you give Dubblebock TFS a try if you want some Windows explorer interface for TFS VC quickly at your disposal. I have been playing with it and have great things to say- which I will say later. But give it a whirl. Ben has done a great job!

Standing alone

I just had to share. My youngest son has decided recently that he'd like to start thinking more seriously about walking. Letting go and a few small baby steps and it constituted a major milestone for him. In the picture below you see this huge silly grin

My favorite quote from last week

This is a statement made by a not-to-be-indentified peer when discussing the final two weeks before handoff of a project (s)he has been working on: "...and somehow they're gonna get 2 months work out of us before we're done. Like the end of the toothpaste

How to Sell a SharePoint Gig according to Dogbert and Steve.

My much more pop culture in touch co-worker (or is he a cow-orker) Steve St. Jean sent me a link to a recent Dilbert cartoon. He titled the email something like "How to Sell a SharePoint Gig". If you ever deal with SharePoint you will appreciate the truth

IE 7 (64 bit) on Vista x64 Doesn't Always Behave with MOSS - It Seems

I have run into specific instances over the last two days in which the 64 bit Internet Explorer 7.0 running under 64 bit Vista does not play well with MOSS 2007. I have not yet checked the security settings to see if they differ by default on IE 7 x64

DMCA, AVG and Office 2007

Just an interesting side note. If you search on google for Office 2007 and AVG (as in anti-virus software from grisoft). You will get the following notice at the bottom of the page In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium

Are You Impressed With Cluttered Screens or Do You Need Lots of Windows to Be Productive?

I consult a fair amount with Microsoft Team Foundation Server, though not nearly as much as I would desire. DAMN YOU, MOSS . As part of that I try to keep up with what similar products do and don't do and how they do it, especially in the area of application

Can they throw any more JUNK on the webpage

File under the category of ' USELESS WEB' The screenshot below must be the prototypical example of one of the most useless and poorly designed web pages I have seen in a long time. I think they had someone throw every piece of junk onto the page they

Here we go again- Live Mail, Hotmail, .NET, .NET Server 2003, .NET 3.0, WinFx

Remember some years back when .NET was in its infancy and lots of Java vs .NET debates raged across the Internet. Remember how Microsoft got crazy about labeling everything ".NET" including what is now Windows Server 2003. It was for a while Windows .NET

Second Life, Statistics, Statistics and Damn Statistics

I found this post on Second Life (SL) user numbers interesting. My response, with typos corrected and a bit of editing for clarity: Let's think about it. The higher numbers are targeted to us as users to entice us to participate thus increasing the number.

Joost needed (needs) a bit more juice

You should definitely look at the Joost Blog. The last few entries tell you a lot. With the creation of unlimited invites from existing customers the likely exponential growth has caused problems in handling capacity. I haven't done any viewing in Joost

Negative Thinking and MTTF

Call to Arms on Web 2.0

Another TeamSysPUG announcement

TeamSysPUG is currently under DNN it hit me a while back- why? I'd rather do it on top of WSS 3.0. Thus the TeamSysPUG group will be moving to WSS 3.0 sometime soon.

Inside the Emerald City and How This Applies to SDLC

This is really a note to self for a full post on exactly what the title says. It will address some parallels I found in a non-technical books author style and requirements in SDLC. Fun should be had by all.

I Agree With Steve a.k.a How Many Clicks to Get to the Center of Visual FoxPro
