IE 7 (64 bit) on Vista x64 Doesn't Always Behave with MOSS - It Seems
I have run into specific instances over the last two days in which the 64 bit Internet Explorer 7.0 running under 64 bit Vista does not play well with MOSS 2007. I have not yet checked the security settings to see if they differ by default on IE 7 x64 versus IE 7 x86- I would imagione not- but perhaps.
I found that the rich text control buttons in at least the wiki page editor simply don't show up. I would imagine this is true for all locations in which such controls would be used. I also imagine this is related to the controls themselves versus a security setting. They work fine on the same machine if I start up the 32 bit IE 7 instance. Similarly, I found that clicking the link to activate Word 2007 for composing a blog entry dsoesn't work when the link is clicked from within the 64 bit IE but does in the 32 bit. When clicking the link in the 64 bit IE the system tells you that a compatible blog editor is not found though Word 2007 is installed. Clicking the same link within the 32 bit version of the browser yields the expected response. Well, the expected response for the most part. I am getting two instances of Word starting up. One is a regular new blank document and the otehr is a blog entry document.
I don't have access at this moment to the actual wording of the links, responses etc. But later I'll update this post with that info so that if others search for the message (google it) they'll perhaps find this entry and see they are not alone.
